TIL: (Today I Learned)

That men are the primary sufferers of color blindness. Apparently women don't suffer from it as often. Could be why women are always saying to their men, "You aren't wearing that are you?"

I suffer a bit from color blindness. On those color blind tests, I can't see any numbers past the first one. It could also be why I wear stuff like this:

Now I see the same blue in both the tie and the shirt, but several people told me it didn't work. I especially think it looks better from a distance.

 

OK, so maybe not.

I actually did have an idea for an iPhone app. Take a picture of all your ties and all your shirts. Then pick a shirt or a tie and the app will tell you the best match from the other. I think I'll call the app Wifey. Now if I can just find someone to do the programming.

40 Year Old Student

My kids wonder why I'm taking a class with the Air Force about electrical engineering. They don't ever think that perhaps I like electrical engineering and or learning. But today I have to wonder why. We had a branch circuit design homework, basically a floorplan to design power, lighting, motors, and a heater. It was fun, but took most of the day what with my back to back meetings.

Again, it reminds me that I'm getting too old for this stuff.

Gosh I feel old

I received a sticker in the mail from my insurance company. Its a quarter century sticker. I've had this insurance company for 25 years.

I'm watching a special on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, mind you, I wasn't around then, but it was 100 years ago.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scout Eagle award, I wasn't around then either, but my now 20 year old son got the award 3 years ago.

Everything I see shows just how fast time is flying past.

I'm Guilty

I'm guilty.

I pride myself on researching things I don't know about to ensure I at least have 65% of the facts before I go making pronouncements. But with all the junk that is on the internet, people tend to take at face value what's put out.

I call it junk, because its not information, because information implies some thought process has been exercised. Its not data because that implies some truth. And since you can get junk within seconds of things happening in the world, people will take the easy way out and believe the headlines.

As I say, I'm guilty of this myself. I have over 1000 stories a day show up in my RSS feed. But at least I try to do some independent research to find the truth.
